David Hanks, our guide is one of the exhibition curators, and co-author of the accompanying catologue, “American Streamlined Design: The World of Tomorrow.”
Streamlining, a style characteristic of North America in the 1930s, sprang directly from the science of aerodynamics. Designers, fascinated by the stylish qualities of these sleek, shapely lines, began to use them freely in all sorts of products.
