Asheville & 20th Century Design

We hope you can join us to explore 20th Century Design in Asheville, North Carolina. In addition to the the wonderful Art Deco and Arts and Crafts architecture, we will tour the Blue Ridge Parkway to view the fall colors, waterfalls, and beautiful mountains. There will be free time to visit the art galleries and unique shops in Downtown Asheville too.

Other highlights of the program include a private tour of the Grove Park Inn, a magnificent Arts and Crafts Hotel completed in 1913, built of huge granite boulders from the mountain where it stands (www.groveparkinn.com). The property includes many of the original Roycroft furnishings.

And although it was completed in 1895–and technically not within the “20th Century”—no trip to Asheville would be complete without visiting The Biltmore Estate (www.biltmore.com). Our trip to The Biltmore Estate will include the very rare privilege of having a Sunset Reception on the roof of this French Renaissance Château!

The registration fee is $775, but there is an “early bird” discount of $100 for those participants who register before August 31, 2014: the registration fee will be $675.

344163_5498_bThe registration fee includes transportation to most venues via luxury motor coach (travel euphemism for a bus), all tour and entrance fees, some meals, and a guidebook designed especially for the tour. The registration fee does not includetransportation to and from Asheville, your hotel accommodations, and many of your meals.

Cancellation policy: 100 % refund of the registration fee if cancelled before July 30, 2014. 50% refund if cancelled between August 1 and September 15, 2014. No refunds for cancellations after September 16, 2014.

Our host hotel is the Renaissance Hotel Asheville, a four star property in the heart of Downtown Asheville. We have secured a special group rate of $179 USD per night. October is “high season” for Asheville, and we guarantee you will not find a better rate for a hotel of this quality. The special rate is available for the nights of Wednesday July 15 through Tuesday July 21. For participants that would like to stay a few days before or after our program, prevailing rates will apply and subject to availability.

We have secured a small block of rooms, and strongly encourage participants to reserve their room before August 31, 2014. We cannot guarantee room availability at our special rate after August 31, 2014.
